Plainfield Fest Staging Areas, Street Closures To Know About

After a hiatus in 2023 and two years before that without a carnival, Plainfield Fest will make its triumphant return June 28-30.

PLAINFIELD, IL — As the community prepares for the anticipated return of Plainfield Fest, police are gearing up for street closure and increased traffic in the downtown area.

After a hiatus in 2023 and two years before that without a carnival, Plainfield Fest will make its triumphant return June 28-30.

The festival will take over various locations throughout downtown Plainfield, with the carnival being set up at the north end of Plainfield Central High School, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive.

The main entertainment area, featuring live music, will be at the Plainfield Township Community Center and Village of Plainfield municipal parking lot, 15014 S. Des Plaines St. Food vendors will also be set up in the municipal lot at the southwest corner of Lockport and Des Plaines streets.

Craft vendors and a petting zoo will be located in the Village Green.

The following roads will close from noon June 28 to 7 p.m. June 30:

  • Des Plaines Street from Chicago to Main streets. Only local traffic will be allowed between Main and Oak streets.
  • Chicago Street from Des Plaines to Fox River streets

Parking will be available at Riverfront Park, Village Hall and Plainfield Central.

Handicapped parking for the entertainment area will be located along the west side of Des Plaines Street, north of Oak Street, and the north side of Oak Street between Des Plaines and Illinois streets. Handicapped parking for the carnival can be found in the parking lot of the high school near the carnival's entrance.

Police encourage festival-goers using ride-share apps to use Illinois Street at Oak Street to avoid congestion directly in front of the gate entrance.
