Plainfield Has Second-Most New Coronavirus Cases In Will County

According to the WCHD, Plainfield reported 559 new coronavirus cases during the week of Nov. 30, following Joliet with 853 cases.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield has the second-highest number of new coronavirus cases in Will County, public health data shows. According to the Will County Health Department, Plainfield reported 559 new cases during the week of Nov. 30, following Joliet with 853 cases.

Throughout November, the village has had the second-most number of weekly cases. The weekly number of cases reported were:

  • Week of Nov. 2 - 403
  • Week of Nov. 9 - 620
  • Week of Nov. 16 - 599
  • Week of Nov. 23 - 531
  • Week of Nov. 30 - 559

State officials imposed new restrictions across Illinois after a surge in coronavirus cases, but the upward trend has continued in Plainfield. The village is also showing high coronavirus positivity rates across all zip codes, along with an increase in the average number of cases reported per 100,000 people.

According to data gathered from the Illinois Department of Public Health, as of Monday, the south side of the village (zip code 60586) has an average 7-day rolling COVID-19 positivity rate of 17.10 percent, whereas the north side (zip code 60585) is at 15.19 percent and the central part (zip code 60544) has an 13.10 percent positivity rate.

The weekly new case rate per 100,000 people is at 535 for Plainfield-central, 539 for Plainfield-north and 699 for Plainfield-south.

The WCHD on Monday reported 43,587 coronavirus cases in Will County, an increase of 1,683 from Friday, and 591 deaths from the virus, an increase of 24 during the same time period.
