Plainfield Man Charged With Aggravated Assault With Deadly Weapon
A Plainfield resident arrested Monday was charged with aggravated domestic battery, assault using a deadly weapon, and unlawful restraint.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield resident Raymundo Martinez was arrested early Monday morning, Feb. 10, after the Plainfield Police received reports of a domestic violence situation on the 25000 block of Steeple Chase Drive. The incident leading to Martinez' arrest took place at his own residence shortly before 5:45 a.m., Plainfield Police Cmdr. Anthony Novak said.
Martinez was charged with two counts of domestic battery, two counts of aggravated assault using a deadly weapon, and one count of aggravated unlawful restraint. According to Will County Court records, these charges include four class A misdemeanors and one class 3 felony. This means that if found guilty on all counts, he could spend up to 9 years in prison and face fines of up to $35,000.

"(A woman) was looking to exit the residence, and he prevented her from being able to freely exit said residence," Novak said regarding the felony charge of aggravated unlawful restraint.
Novak also said that the "deadly weapon"involved in the incident was a shotgun.

According to inmate records from the Will County Sheriff's Office, Martinez was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility shortly after his arrest on Monday. After an initial court appearance on Tuesday, he was released on Wednesday, Feb. 12 on a $25,000, 10 percent deposit bond.
Inmate records indicate Martinez' next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3.
Martinez has no prior criminal record in the Will County records. All charges against him are merely accusations and he is considered innocent until proven guilty.
