Plainfield Man Secretly Recorded Minor, Police Say
The man, a Northern Illinois University employee, is accused of secretly recording a girl in his bathroom, reports say.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A 31-year-old Plainfield man has been arrested after secretly recording a minor, according to Plainfield Police. The man has been charged with three counts of unauthorized videotaping, and has been banned from Northern Illinois University campus, where he was an employee and graduate student.
Jay Vecchiet was arrested Monday after an investigation confirmed he was in possession of "inappropriate photos" of a juvenile, Plainfield Sgt. Kevin McQuaid said. Police were previously told that Vecchiet had the pictures on his phone, and the investigation determined that he had placed a hidden camera in a private facility to record the minor, McQuaid said.
Court records show that Vecchiet had secretly taped an underaged, nude girl in a bathroom, according to The Herald-News.

Vecchiet was charged with two felony counts of unauthorized videotaping of a minor and one felony count of unauthorized videotaping, records show. He was booked into Will County Jail at 4 p.m. Monday and was released early Tuesday after posting $15,000 bond.
Vecchiet is listed as a graduate student at Northern Illinois University, working in the university's biology department. Vecchiet did not register for classes this semester, however, and so he lost his student status, said Joe King, spokesperson for the university. Because he didn't register for classes, Vecchiet is unable to work at the university. He has been banned from campus, King said.
