Plainfield Mayor To Give His Final State Of The Village Address
Mayor Michael Collins will deliver the last address of his tenure during the virtual event on March 10.
PLAINFIELD, IL — Every year, Mayor Michael Collins reviews what happened in Plainfield over the past year, and as he delivers his address this time, it will be the last time he does so. The State of the Village virtual event, presented by the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held on March 10.
The State of The Village address is a custom shared among many local suburbs going back decades. Collins said he has been speaking at the event for all 11 years of his tenure as mayor, as did his predecessor Richard Rock.
Collins was elected village president in 2009 and has served three consecutive terms, however, he has decided to not seek reelection in the April 6 Consolidated Election. He also served as a village trustee from 1999 to 2007 and as a Plainfield Fire Protection District trustee from 1989 to 1999.
