PLAINFIELD, IL — Today, officials from Pace Bus, the Village of Plainfield and Will County gathered to celebrate the dedication of the new Park and Ride facility, located near 143rd Street and Van Dyke Road in Plainfield. This new facility will serve more than 500 riders each day on a direct route to Chicago.
"Will County continues to grow and our biggest asset is sound, dependable public transportation,” said Will County Executive Larry Walsh. “When this route first began in 1987, Will County had a population of 350,000. Today our population is nearly 700,000 and we are anticipated to reach one million by the year 2040. These successful partnerships are important to keep our county moving forward.”
The new Park ‘n Ride has parking spaces for 600 vehicles and is quickly reaching its capacity. Pace Bus Board of Directors Chairman Rick Kwasneski said the Bus On Shoulder service has increased 600 percent since it began in 2011.
