Plainfield PD Loses Charity Softball Game To Romeoville, 34 - 15

The Romeoville Police beat their Plainfield counterparts handily on Saturday. Good thing all the proceeds went to charity anyway.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield and Romeoville Police Departments met for the Softball In The Snow charity game on Saturday, March 7, and depending on who you ask it either went very well or not well at all. Romeoville beat out Plainfield 34 - 15.

"RPD handed it to us this year," a post on the Plainfield Police Twitter page said. "All in stride though, next year's our year."

Alternatively, the Romeoville Police couldn't help but celebrate a little on their own Twitter page. Based on the shocked-face emoji they included with the post, it seems even they were surprised by the womping they managed to hand their Plainfield counterparts.

Proceeds from the charity game benefited the Wish Upon A Star non-profit charity, which works to fulfill the wishes of children with terminal illnesses. According to the Plainfield Police's reckoning, the game raised about $7,500 for the cause.

Patch reached out to both the Plainfield and Romeoville Police Departments for comments on the game, but neither department immediately responded.
