Plainfield Police Announce Local Results Of Holiday 'Crackdown'

Four arrests, 88 citations reported by Plainfield police during Thanksgiving week.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Police Department released their own account of enforcement actions taken over the Thanksgiving holiday week, part of the statewide "crackdown" on dangerous driving behavior that ran from Nov. 22 to Dec. 1. According to the release, they issued 88 seat belt and child safety citations and made four impaired driving arrests.

During the crackdown campaign, which state and local police alike described as a "high visibility" effort, an increased amount of officers were present on the streets during late night hours, both on foot and in vehicles. The heightened police presence was funded by federal highway safety funds administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The holiday crackdown was part of the state-wide "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaigns. For further information, citizens can contact the Plainfield Police Department at (815) 436-6544 or https://www.plainfield-il.org/pages/police.
