Plainfield Police Taking Back Unwanted Prescriptions
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27 at the Plainfield Law Enforcement Center.

PLAINFIELD, IL--The Plainfield Police Department is joining the national push to collect unwanted, unused and expired prescriptions.
The April 27 event provides the public the opportunity to drop off certain items at the Plainfield Law Enforcement Center, 14300 S. Coil Plus Dr., in Plainfield.
State and local law enforcement authorities across the country are taking part in the initiative to bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical drug abuse.

Among the items eligible for collection are controlled, non-controlled and over-the-counter substances. Those on site will collect any solid dosage from pharmaceutical products in consumer containers. In addition, small bottles of cough syrup may be accepted if they are sealed in the original container.
Certain items will not be accepted on site. Those include needles and illicit illegal substances such as heroin or marijuana.

The event is meant for patients and their families to drop off items.
