PLAINFIELD, IL — The first day of school in Plainfield is Aug. 14 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you'll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 has released its 2019-2020 calendar.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

August:

  • Aug. 12-13: Teacher institutes - no student attendance
  • Aug. 14: First day of student attendance - school improvement day - Early Release (No pre-K or kindergarten)
  • Aug. 15: First day of studenta Attendance for pre-K, Bonnie McBeth two-day programs and kindergarten
  • Aug. 16: First day of student attendance for Bonnie McBeth three-day programs

September:

  • Sept. 2: Labor Day - no school
  • Sept. 16: School improvement day - early release

October:

  • Oct. 14: Columbus Day: no school
  • Oct. 18: End of first quarter
  • Oct. 21: School improvement day - early release

November:

  • Nov. 25: Teacher institute - no student attendance
  • Nov. 25: Parent/teacher conference (evening schedule)
  • Nov. 26: Parent/teacher conferences - no school
  • Nov. 27-29: Thanksgiving recess - no school

December:

  • Dec. 20: End of first semester
  • Dec. 20: School improvement day - early release
  • Dec. 23: Winter break begins

January:

  • Jan. 6: Classes resume after winter break
  • Jan. 20: Martin Luther King Jr's birthday - no school

February:

  • Feb. 3: School improvement day - early release
  • Feb. 17: Presidents' Day - no school
  • Feb. 28: Teacher institute - no student attendance

March:

  • March 6: End of third quarter
  • March 9: School improvement day - early release
  • March 17: Election day - no school
  • March 30: Spring break begins

April:

  • April 6: Classes resume following spring break
  • April 10: Spring holiday - no school
  • April 27: School improvement day - early release

May:

  • May 22: School improvement day - early release
  • May 22: Tentative last day of school if no emergency days are used - early release

June:

  • June 1: Tentative last day of school if all emergency days are used
