Plainfield South Coronavirus Positivity Highest In 2 Months

As of Tuesday, coronavirus positivity in the south side of the village is at 11.67 percent, according to IDPH.

PLAINFIELD, IL — The south side of the village currently has the highest positivity rate it has had in two months, according to data collected by the Illinois Department of Public Health. As of Tuesday, coronavirus positivity in Plainfield-south (zip code 60586) is 11.67 percent. This has increased since last week's 9.8 percent.

The weekly new case rate per 100,000 people is 260, another increase from 177 last week.

This comes after Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced new restrictions on Region 7 (Will and Kankakee) after positivity rates in those two regions eclipsed 8 percent for three straight days.

The state's regional coronavirus-mitigation strategies — which went into effect Friday — include a ban on indoor service at restaurants and bars, as well as a cap on the size of public gatherings.

The north side of the village (zip code 60585) is at 7.62 percent, decreasing from 8.5 percent and the central part (zip code 60544) has a 7.88 percent positivity rate.

The Will County Health Department reports that as of Monday, Plainfield-central has a total of 645 cases, Plainfield-south has 1,099 cases and Plainfield-north has 410 cases. The south side has added 58 new cases since Thursday.
