Plainfield Storywalk Hosts Grand Opening Saturday
The children's book "A Fall Ball For All" will be on display at Settlers' Park.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield's new StoryWalk will debut to the public on Saturday, when families can stroll Settlers' Park and take in the children's book "A Fall Ball For All." The event begins at 9:30 a.m. and is open to the public.
The village installed the StoryWalk boards around Settlers' Park in September, after a $6,000 donation from the friends of the Plainfield Public Library allowed for the new permanent feature. Originating in 2007 in Vermont, the StoryWalk project is a way for to promote healthy lifestyle choices and literacy by getting families outdoors and moving while taking in a book.
"We've heard from parents who say their kids love to read and never want to go outside and play, and then we hear from others whose kids love to run around and never settle down for a story," Lisa Pappas,
director of the Plainfield Public Library District, said previously. "The new StoryWalk should appeal to both types of kids."
