Results Released From July Speed Enforcement Campaign: Plainfield Police

Plainfield police released the number of tickets they issued during the nearly month-long speed enforcement campaign in July.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police unveiled Friday they issued 62 tickets during the nearly month-long speed enforcement campaign in July.

From July 8 to Aug. 1, the Plainfield Police Department joined the statewide "Speeding Catches Up With You" effort, aiming to reduce highway fatalities and injuries associated with speeding.

Officers issued the following citations during the campaign:

  • 52 for speeding
  • 4 for improper seat belt use
  • 2 for cell phone usage
  • 2 for expired registration
  • 1 for no insurance
  • 1 for illegal transportation of alcohol

Police also made two arrests, one for driving under the influence and the other for a misdemeanor, according to a news release.

"We continue to urge all drivers traveling through our community to slow down, obey speed limits and drive responsibly," Sgt. Dino Dabezic said in a statement. "Every decision you make behind the wheel matters — it's truly not a game."
