The driver was taken to a nearby hospital, authorities said.
PLAINFIELD, IL — A semitrailer rolled off Interstate 55 in Plainfield and onto the train tracks below, leaving a trail of chicken broth and disinfectant wipes in its wake, according to authorities.
Emergency personnel responded around 10 a.m. Sunday to the northbound interstate just north of Route 30, authorities said. The semi driver was seen by paramedics and taken to Ascension St. Joseph in Joliet for injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the Plainfield Fire Protection District, which noted there was a second vehicle involved in the incident, but the person or people in that vehicle refused treatment.
A small diesel spill was contained by firefighters, authorities said. The broth and wipes the semi was carrying littered the interstate and the train tracks below.
