Shooting In Downtown Plainfield: Police Seek Suspects

A male victim was shot Thursday near Main Street and Des Plaines Street.

PLAINFIELD, IL — Plainfield police are looking for information on two shooting suspects after a male victim was shot and wounded Thursday night near Main and Des Plaines streets. Police said the victim was shot at around 9:51 p.m. by two offenders before fleeing and seeking help for his injuries.

Both offenders were described as black males in their mid-20s wearing dark clothes. Police said one was described as having shoulder-length braided hair. After the shooting, they both fled "in an unknown direction," possibly in a silver Jeep Cherokee. A witness also saw a brown- or tan-colored Honda Accord with a white male in his late teens near the scene at the time of the shooting, police said.

Members of the Plainfield police and fire departments responded to the shooting, and the victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
