According to Plainfield PD Public Information Officer Commander Anthony Novak, the conflict was between two groups of people who knew each other.
"At about 5:20 p.m., officers with the Plainfield Police Department responded to a shots fired call in the vicinity of [Wilson Court and Wilson Lane]... and ultimately, through the preliminary investigation, it looked to be a disturbance between two sets of individuals that were known to one another," Novak said.

As the police arrived on the scene, Novak said that some people involved in the incident fled, while others went into a nearby house. Police detained several individuals for questioning, including two people at the CVS at the intersection of Caton Farm Road and South Drauden Road. However, per the ongoing investigation, none of them have been formally arrested or charged. The two individuals at CVS were released without charges after questioning, Novak said. Investigators are still trying to piece together an accurate picture of the incident. Different individuals have given different accounts, Novak said.
"We're still trying to identify which party [shot], because... we're getting conflicting statements from both sides that we've been able to talk to," Novak said.
While no one was shot, there was one reported injured person. As one group of people involved in the incident fled the scene, one member of the group was struck by a car. He was taken to Amita Health St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet for treatment before being released with only minor injuries.
As police investigators continue to work on the case, Novak said that tips or leads from nearby residents would be appreciated. To offer information, Novak said to call Detective Dino Dabezic with Plainfield PD at 815-439-7652.
