Six Coronavirus Cases Confirmed in Plainfield
The Plainfield Police Department confirmed Saturday that there were six known cases of coronavirus in the village.
PLAINFIELD, IL — The Plainfield Police Department issued a statement on Saturday, March 28 via Facebook that the village had confirmed six cases of coronavirus in town. HIPAA concerns prevent the police from releasing specific information regarding the individuals' names or locations. These latest cases, which were reportedly confirmed Friday evening, are among the 3,029 cases thus far reported in Illinois and the 116,505 cases reported in the country. As of Friday, the U.S. had overtaken China in the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus it was reporting.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention continues to urge everyone to do their part to slow the spread of the virus. This means to stay at home whenever possible, keep at least six feet between individuals when social situations are unavoidable, regularly wash hands and sanitize high-use surfaces, and call ahead to a doctor before visiting if you believe you are ill.
Patch attempted to contact the police, the village office and local hospitals for more information on Saturday, but did not immediately receive any responses.
