Smoker Fire Evacuates Tischler's, Neighboring Businesses

Peter Rubi and Big Pauly's pizza also evacuated Saturday.

PLAINFIELD, IL -- Bacon in a smoker at Tischler's Market sparked a fire Saturday afternoon that led to the evacuation of two neighboring businesses in the Plainfield Plaza on Route 59.

Plainfield Fire Chief Jon Stratton said firefighters arrived to find smoke in the attic of the plaza, but fast-acting Tischler's employees had already put out the fire.

Stratton said Peter Rubi and Big Pauly's were also evacuated after the fire but quickly reopened.
