Volunteers Needed To Deliver Bicycles To Veterans Home

Operation Welcome You Home needs help to deliver bikes and other donations from Plainfield to the Hope Manor Veterans Home in Joliet.

PLAINFIELD, IL — A veterans support group is seeking volunteers to help deliver bicycles and other donations Saturday from Plainfield to the Hope Manor Veterans Home in Joliet. The group is also seeking supporters to follow the delivery vehicles in a show of support for the veterans.

Operation Welcome You Home, the Naperville-based veterans group, has nine bicycles and items like helmets and bike baskets and some household items that it is seeking to donate to Hope Manor Veterans Home. But the group needs help transporting the donations.

The group is seeking those with trucks or vans to help bring the bikes and other items from Plainfield to Hope Manor, 1331 Eagle St. in Joliet, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. It is also looking for volunteers to parade in motorcycles and cars over to the veterans home in a show of support.

Operation Welcome You Home hosts a number of local events that benefit area volunteers, including the annual Run For The Brave. Earlier this year, the group also held a "Rock'n'Roll Dance" with proceeds going to local veterans groups.
