Wesmere Assistant Principal To Helm Freedom Elementary School

PLAINFIELD, IL — Wesmere Elementary School's assistant principals will helm Freedom Elementary School starting in the fall, officials announced.

The Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 Board of Education appointed David Campbell as principal during its May 15 meeting. Campbell will replace Laurie Boyce-Fischer, who is retiring.

The new principal began his career with District 202 in 2008. He spent 11 years working as a fifth-grade teacher at Elizabeth Eichelberger Elementary School before moving into administration, where he served as an interim assistant principal at Lincoln and Eichelberger elementary schools before becoming a full-time assistant principal at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School.

"I am drawn to Freedom due to its dedication to student-centered learning," he said in a statement. "I am inspired by the opportunity to collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals, engage with supportive parents and community members, and lead initiatives that will positively impact the lives of our students."

Scott Fink, District 202 director of administration and personnel for elementary schools, said Campbell's administrative experience will help him "continue the great things happening at Freedom," according to a district news release.

"David's personality, sense of family, and positive outlook will serve the Freedom community well," Fink said.
