Will County Positivity Rate Drops To 4-Month Low
The positivity rate in Will County is under 6 percent for the first time since early October, according to public health data.
WILL COUNTY, IL — Will County's positivity rate dipped to 5.3 percent as of Friday, the lowest it's been in four months, public health data shows.
That's down nearly 73 percent from its all-time high of 19.9 percent in mid-November as coronavirus cases surged in the area. Prior to this, the last time Will County's positivity rate was under 6 percent was Oct. 3, according to statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
On Friday, the positivity rate in Region 7 — made up of Will and Kankakee counties — dropped to 4.7 percent, which is also a four-month low. The region's positivity rate peaked at 20.6 percent on Nov. 17.

The Will County Health Department on Thursday reported 63,838 COVID-19 cases, an increase of 190 from Wednesday, while the number of deaths remained unchanged at 876.
