600 Coronavirus Deaths In Will County: A Grim Milestone

WILL COUNTY, IL — The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 600 lives in Will County, recent public data states. As of Wednesday, the death toll in the county has reached 601, the Will County Health Department announced.
The county had reported its 400th death in October and its 500th death a little over two weeks ago. During last week, WCHD reported almost 50 new deaths. Over 70 percent of those who have died from COVID-19 in Will County were in their 70s or older.
As of Wednesday, Will County has 44,464 COVID-19 cases, an increase of 464 from Tuesday. The test positivity in Will County as of Friday was 17.4 percent, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Available ICU beds within Region 7 (Will and Kankakee counties) are shrinking and 33 out of 162 beds are still available. Joliet continued to have the highest number of cases in the county for the week of Nov. 30, with a total of 853 cases, followed by Plainfield with 559.
