• Freedom House gets $50K boost for new Kewanee shelter (galesburg.com) — Freedom House, founded by Princeton resident Nedda Simon, is expanding its services with a new 40-bed shelter in Kewanee while continuing to operate its 28-bed emergency shelter in Princeton. Serving Bureau and surrounding counties, the agency offers free 24/7 crisis support, advocacy, and counseling for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and is currently fundraising for the new facility. 
• NewsTribune Athlete of the Week: Bureau Valley's Carson Gruber (shawlocal.com) — A standout Bureau Valley–Princeton rivalry game put freshman guard Carson Gruber on the map, as he poured in 37 points and forced overtime with a clutch three. His performance against Princeton helped earn him NewsTribune Athlete of the Week and showcased the rising talent local fans will be seeing on area courts for years.
