Justice Zenoff Gets Statewide Behavioral Health Leader Award

Prestigious "Lawrence Goodman Friend of the Field Award" given to Zenoff at the Rosecrance Ware Center on November 19.

(Springfield, IL) – Illinois’ leading behavioral health advocacy group presented one of its top awards to Winnebago County Second District Circuit Court Appellate Justice Kathryn Zenoff in Rockford this week.

The prestigious “Lawrence Goodman Friend of the Field Award” was given to Zenoff by the Illinois Association for Behavioral Health (IABH) at the Rosecrance Ware Center on November 19, recognizing her “leadership” on behavioral health care in the criminal justice system.

“From serving as Chair of the Illinois Supreme Court Special Advisory Committee for Justice and Mental Health Planning to serving as Chair of the Advisory Board for the Illinois Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health and Justice, Justice Zenoff has demonstrated a deep commitment to behavioral healthcare reform in the courts,” said IABH CEO Sara Howe. “We are thrilled to honor her lifetime of professional work on behalf of behavioral health in the criminal justice system.”

Zenoff, who has served as an Assistant State’s Attorney Winnebago County, was originally appointed Circuit Judge by the Supreme Court in 1998 and has served as Presiding Judge of the Criminal Division and the Mental Health (Therapeutic Intervention Program) Court.

“I am deeply honored to receive the “Lawrence Goodman Friend of the Field Award” from the Illinois Association for Behavioral Health,” said Zenoff. “The intersection between behavioral health care and the criminal justice system has only grown over the years and the courts have a vital role to play.”

Zenoff graduated cum laude from Stanford University and received her J.D. degree from Columbia University Law School.
