1,143 Homes Still Without Power; Post-Storm Cleaning Underway

There were at least 20 power outages across the village during the storm, affecting 7.89 percent of all customers in Romeoville.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Power outage continues in several Romeoville homes Tuesday morning after a severe storm ripped through the area.

Tornado warnings were issued for much of the Chicago area, with wind gusts of 80 mph, hail the size of a quarter and downed trees and power lines were reported as the severe weather passed through northern Illinois Monday.

As of 7 a.m. Tuesday, the storm knocked out power for almost 1,143 ComEd customers in Romeoville, according to the company's outage map. There were at least 20 power outages across the village during the storm, affecting 7.89 percent of all customers in Romeoville.

The Village of Romeoville said in a social media post that it has started cleanup efforts following the storm. Public Works crews are clearing debris from roadways. The village will be providing a special branch pickup for residents and they should place the branches at the curb for pickup. Chipper service will be ongoing for the next seven days.
