IDOT Will Invest $6.4M In Romeoville 2025 Road Improvement Projects
Projects include improvements at I-55 and Airport/Lockport Road, and at I-55 and IL 126.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel has announced an investment of $6.4 million by the Illinois Department of Transportation for road improvement projects in Romeoville in 2025.
“By improving our state’s aging infrastructure, we are improving the lives of all residents,” Loughran Cappel, a Shorewood-area legislator, said in a release. “This significant investment will increase safety, bring good-paying jobs to the community and boost the local economy.”
As part of IDOT’s latest Multi-Year Plan under Rebuild Illinois, the district Loughran Cappel represents, including Romeoville, will see three infrastructure projects totaling $6.4 million in 2025.

The projects are:
- Interstate 55, at Airport Road/Lockport Road: planning and engineering, phase 2, initial construction - pavements, $1.3 million.
- Interstate 55, at Airport Road/Lockport Road: land acquisition, initial construction - pavements, $3 million.
- Interstate 55 at IL 126: planning and engineering, phase 2, initial construction-pavements, $2.1 million.
These projects are part of IDOT’s Multi-Year Plan, a $40 billion investment in construction projects for the next six fiscal years, according to a release from Loughran Cappel's office. There are several more projects planned for 2026 to 2030 in Romeoville.
