Lewis University Opens COVID-19 Testing Site Up To Public

Local residents can be tested without an appointment on weekdays and the school is offering the testing service with no out-of-pocket costs.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Romeoville-area residents in need of a free COVID-19 test can take advantage of a testing site at Lewis University, which is now open to the public, the school recently announced.

School officials said in a social media post that there is no need to make an appointment for the testing, which is being offered at the school’s Memorial Hall on Lewis’ Romeoville campus. Testing will be offered from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The school said that there will be no out-of-cost payments needed for those who have medical insurance or use of federal programs for those who do not carry insurance.

COVID-19 transmission rates have remained low around Illinois even with the lifting of mask and proof of vaccination mandates. The Illinois Department of Public Health announced Wednesday that the state’s positivity rate is currently 1.2 percent and that ICU rates are the lowest they have been since the start of the pandemic.
