Local HS Artists Honored At Lewis University Invitational

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Lewis University hosted its seventh annual High School Art Invitational Jan. 11-18 in the Brent and Jean Wadsworth Family Gallery, on Lewis University’s main campus in Romeoville, and several local students were honored with prizes, according to a release.

Local students from nine high schools were featured in the show with approximately 40 works of art consisting of paintings, drawings, sculptures, digital works and mixed media, the university said.

First, second, and third-place winners of the invitational included:

• Morgan Long, Plainfield North High School - “Untitled (Self-Portrait on Drum Set)”
• Evangelina Gabrisko, Providence Catholic High School - “Plastic Beach”
• Leila Rexhepi, Lemont High School - “Sea Turtle”

Honorable mentions included:

• Ollie Cavenaile, Plainfield Central High School - “Will Gold”
• Wrigley Fanter, Joliet Catholic Academy - “Human Nature”
• Paige Lio, Plainfield South High School - “Shoe House”
• Morgan McCarthy, Lockport Township High School - “As Free as an Uncaged Bird”
• Claire Pulins, Romeoville High School - “2 Point Perspective City”
• Isabella Ramirez, Plainfield East High School - “Still Life Reflection #4”
• Maddie Ullsmith, Providence Catholic High School - “They’re Watching”
