Man Found With Handgun In Romeoville Home Taken Into Custody

According to Deputy Chief Brant Hromadka​ a witness had observed the man arguing with and hitting a female.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A 27-year-old man was taken into custody Thursday for reportedly hurting a female in a domestic incident, Romeoville Police Department said.

According to Deputy Chief Brant Hromadka, at approximately 12:28 p.m., the police was dispatched to the 700 block of Belmont Drive for a possible domestic situation.

"A witness observed a male and female subject arguing and the male struck the female. The male then pointed a handgun in the direction of the female. The female left the scene in a vehicle and the male returned to a residence on the 700 block of Belmont," Hromadka said.

Officers attempted to contact the subject, Rayvon M. Johnson, via phone, but he was unwilling to cooperate. It was unknown if additional subjects were in the house.

A search warrant was obtained and with the assistance of the Will County Sheriff’s SWAT team, entry was made to the residence and a handgun was found.

The subject was taken into custody without incident and later charged with the following:

  • Possession of Firearm/ No FOID
  • Obstructing Justice
  • Aggravated Assault w/ a deadly weapon
  • Domestic Battery
  • Violation of Bail Bond
