Gunman In Romeoville Bank Shot, Killed By Police In Standoff: Police
A Will County SWAT officer shot the man, who police said initially had hostages inside the bank and had fired the gun inside the bank.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — A man who was inside a Romeoville bank on Tuesday afternoon was shot and killed by officers after he fired a gun multiple times on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Romeoville police said officers were called to Fifth Third Bank at 275 South Weber Road around 3:40 p.m. and found a man with a gun, police said. Lewis University Police said on social media that police were handling a "critical incident," along with other law enforcement agencies.
Police said the man was not involved in a bank robbery but had hostages inside the bank. Police were told that the man demanded that authorities be called to the bank. Once officers arrived, the man allowed the hostages to leave the bank and walk out to officers. Police said that witnesses said that the man had a gun and had fired the gun inside the bank "multiple times."

Will County SWAT relieved Romeoville Officers of their perimeter positions. Will County SWAT then engaged with the individual and one shot was fired by a Will County SWAT Officer.
Officers and paramedics provided care to the man who was transported to the hospital, where he died from his injury.

An FBI spokeswoman confirmed with Patch on Tuesday evening that the agency is assisting in the investigation, but referred any further questions to local police.
The Illinois State Police is conducting the investigation into the officer who was involved in the shooting of the man, police said.
