Mayor Noak has been reappointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) Transportation and Infrastructure Services Federal Advocacy Committee as well as the University Communities Council and the Council on Youth, Education, and Families.

As a member of these groups, Mayor Noak will play a key role among a diverse group of local leaders to encourage collaboration, networking and the development of resources and programs beneficial to communities that share demographics, size or location that can be replicated across the country.

The Transportation and Infrastructure Services Federal Advocacy Committee advocates for federal funding opportunities for cities and towns, improving safety and connectivity, and leveraging innovation for all types of transportation. Members include local elected officials and city staff from NLC member cities and towns across the country who are committed to discussing and influencing federal policy that has a direct and profound impact on local government operations.

The University Communities Council aims to connect elected municipal officials from university communities and foster a spirit of cooperation between universities, colleges and local governments. The council is comprised of municipal officials from NLC member municipalities with an institution of higher education within their borders or within adjacent municipalities.

The Council on Youth, Education, and Families works to promote best practices that address the needs of children, youth, and families. They also provide the means for elected officials who are interested in these issues to network, learn, and support each other in their work.

“I believe being part of the national conversation on these issues provides great insight for Romeoville and Will County as a whole,” said Mayor John Noak. “I look forward to working with my fellow elected officials this year as we advocate for these issues to make our individual communities, as well as our country, a better place.”

“It is crucial that we bring together local leaders that are representative of all communities to share solutions, and challenges from their hometowns, which are used to develop NLC policies and programs,” said National League of Cities President Steve Patterson, Mayor of Athens, Ohio. “Bringing the experience and leadership of Mayor Noak to serve this year goes a long way to ensuring every city, town and village has the resources they need to lift up their communities and improve the lives of their residents.”
