New Mexican Restaurant Chooses Romeoville For 'Great Community'
"When the opportunity came by to bring the concept to Romeoville, it was a no-brainer," an owner said.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Romeoville's newest restaurant, La Colonia, will bring authentic recipes, handcrafted cocktails and a cozy dine-in experience inspired by the colonial charm of Mexico, the business shared with Patch.
AJ D’Andrea, who is handling marketing for the restaurant, said the restaurant is family-owned and operated and is open at 634 S. Weber Road, in Romeoville. A ribbon cutting is planned for the business on June 17 at 4 p.m., and the public is welcome.
D'Andrea said the new restaurant has a vibe of "moody at night and welcoming," and is perfect for family dinners, date nights or drinks with friends.

Some of the highlights on the menu include parrilladas and molcajetes, as well as tacos, tortas and quesabirrias. The restaurant also has a full bar with handcrafted cocktails and a mixologist-led drink menu, D'Andrea said.
La Colonia will offer lunch specials Monday through Thursday, as well as margarita deals every Tuesday and Wednesday.

"Opening La Colonia has been a lifelong dream. After years of working in restaurants, we wanted to create something of our own. Something that reflects our culture, our story, and our love for food. We built this place with our family, and now we get to share it with the Romeoville community," the owners told Patch.
The owners said they chose Romeoville for its "great community." The family is from the Joliet, Romeoville and Crest Hill area, "so when the opportunity came by to bring the concept to Romeoville, it was a no-brainer."
The owners hope to fill a gap in the local dining scene; providing a Mexican restaurant with high-quality food, warm hospitality and a unique environment.
"La Colonia was created to meet that need — blending authenticity with great vibes, in a setting that feels warm," D'Andrea said.
