Person Leaves Vehicle, Struck By Oncoming Semi-Truck On I-55: ISP

The person was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after stepping into I-55 near Weber Road before being hit.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A person who got out of their vehicle and then stepped into a lane of traffic on Interstate 55 on Wednesday evening was hit by a semi-truck, Illinois State Police said.

The person, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the state police said. The accident took place around 4:30 p.m. near Weber Road and took place after the person got out of the vehicle on the passenger side of the vehicle and then stepped into the lane of traffic on I-55, police said.

The semi-truck, which was slowly trying to pass by the area, struck the person, police said.
