Protest To Take Place In Romeoville Saturday: Village
The village notified residents in an alert and said the police department will be extra vigilant during the demonstration from 12-4 p.m..
ROMEOVILLE, IL — In a community alert Wednesday, The Village of Romeoville informed residents of a protest condemning the death of George Floyd that will take place 12 -4 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Airport and Weber roads.
The alert stated that while the organizers are not from Romeoville, they have been very cooperative.
"The goal of both parties is to keep everyone safe. We will support everyone’s First Amendment right and allow for peaceful demonstrations while keeping our community safe," the village said.

The village also said that there is a great deal of concern due to recent escalated violence around the area and the Romeoville police "will be providing extra patrol and will be monitoring the event with the organizers to quickly identify those creating a negative environment."
"Citizens’ rights are of the utmost importance and our goal is to ensure the safety of everyone involved," the alert said.
