Public Safety Academy For Romeoville Residents Starts April 10
The Romeoville Police Department, Fire Department and Emergency Management Agency host the classes.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Romeoville Police Department, Fire Department and Emergency Management Agency will come together to teach the Public Safety Academy, starting April 10 in Romeoville.
According to the Village, the 11-week series of classes are held each spring for residents ages 16 and up who want to learn more about these agencies. Each class is held on a Thursday evening (6 - 8:30 p.m.) from April 10 to June 19. To apply, click here.
The Village said the police portion of the classes instructs attendees on various law enforcement topics including: Traffic enforcement, investigatory techniques, law enforcement jiu-jitsu, drones, police K9, TASER, special weapons and tactics, and more.

The Fire Department will bring students through fire extinguisher training, CPR, hoses, ladders, engine operations, and use of a variety of tools and equipment.
The Emergency Management Agency will cover traffic control, weather spotting and other management tactics when emergencies strike.

The academy is physical, and students will work with fire hoses and climb ladders, practice jiu-jitsu and SWAT tactics, and fire off TASERs and fire extinguishers, the Village said.
