Romeoville Announces Grand Opening of Aquatic Center

The Village of Romeoville is excited to announce the grand opening of the Aquatic Center on Monday, August 14th. Romeoville residents and Aquatic Center members are invited for a day of swimming, splashing, and celebrating!

The official ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm, while the indoor pool and outdoor splash pad both open at 1:30 pm. Food trucks and a variety of games and activities will be available until 7:30 pm. Pre-registered time slots will be offered to experience the new indoor pool amenities.

Time slots are FREE and will be open for Romeoville residents to register for on August 1st at www.romeoville.org/aquatics. Time slots will be available in 90 minute increments during the following timeframes: 1:30 pm-3:00 pm, 3:30 pm-5:00 pm, and 5:30 pm-7:00 pm. All attendees must be registered for a time slot to be admitted into the Aquatic Center during the designated time and must exit the building at the end of their registered time. To ensure the safety of all members and guests, users may be denied entry to the pool or splash pad if the swimmer load capacity has been met.

Memberships to the new facility will go on sale at 9:00 am on July 17th and can be purchased at the Romeoville Recreation Center (900 W. Romeo Road). The first 100 primary memberships will receive a free pool bag (limit one per household). All new memberships purchased through August 14th will have their enrollment fee waived, and the annual memberships purchased during this time will be eligible for a 25% discount! The savings are valid for one year and the membership must be paid in full. If a membership isn’t for you, day passes will be available after the grand opening. “We are very excited for opening day of the Aquatic Center,” said Mayor John Noak. “The center will be a wonderful addition to Romeoville and will bring residents from all around our community to this area.”

The Romeoville Aquatic Center is located at 630 Townhall Drive, right behind the Athletic & Event Center. The nearly 22,000 square foot facility features over 11,000 square feet of indoor aquatic fun. Amenities include locker rooms with showers, 270 public lockers, two ADA family changing areas, and two multi-purpose party rooms. The indoor pool has a zero depth entry, interactive play area, 42” deep activity pool, volleyball net, basketball hoops, a 20 foot tall, 150 foot long illuminated water slide, a 3 lane, 20 yard lap pool, and current channel and vortex pool for leisure and exercise.

The 2,600 square foot outdoor splash pad will have seating with lounge areas and shade sails, over 50 spray features, and four dedicated changing rooms with showers (two are ADA accessible).
Regular pool hours of operation (6:00 am – 1:00 pm/3:00 pm – 9:00 pm) will begin on Tuesday, August 15th. Hours are subject to change seasonally, so please consult www.romeoville.org/aquatics for the most up to date operating schedule.
