Romeoville HS Boys Soccer Heads To State Final Tournament

Romeoville will now play Elmhurst's York on Friday at 5 p.m. at Hoffman Estates High School.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — After a 4-1 victory over Edwardsville, the Romeoville High School boys soccer team has advanced to the IHSA Class 3A state final tournament for the first time in school history.

The Spartans defeated Edwardsville Tuesday in the Super-Sectional in Bloomington. Earlier this season, the team became regional champions and sectional champions to earn their berth to the state tournament.

"Boys all played great yesterday start to finish," Coach Nick Cirrincione said of Tuesday's game. "We won 4-1 with goals by Joseph Duarte 2, Luis Orizaba, and Isaiah Pina."

Romeoville will now play Elmhurst's York, who are the defending state champions, on Friday at 5 p.m. at Hoffman Estates High School in the first round of the state final tournament.

The other two teams in the tournament are Naperville Central and Lincolnshire's Stevenson.

The third-place game will be played at 6 p.m. on Saturday and the championship game will be played at 8 p.m. on Saturday, all in Hoffman Estates.
