Romeoville PD Night Out To Feature Avengers, Firearms Simulator
The superhero theme returns for this year's event, which will include a Taser demonstration, Touch-A-Truck, reptile show and more.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Romeoville Police Department challenges the community to test their firearms skills at the second annual National Night Out Event planned for Aug. 6. The Romeoville Police Department highlights the newly purchased Firearms Simulator at this year’s National Night Out Event (NNO) and will allow all attendees the opportunity to use the firearm’s simulator.
Romeoville police will again have a “Superhero” themed event, but plan on having everything bigger and better than last year.
Members of the Community Oriented Policing Division will be dressing up as members of the Avengers. Every child who attends this event will receive a super hero mask and cape and other special surprises for coming to this year’s event. Below is the scheduled events, tentatively planned by Romeoville Det. Kelley Talbot.

- 5:30-6:00 p.m. Distribute giveaways, meet and greets with members of the Traffic Unit, Community Oriented Division, Detectives Division and police officers/civilian employees dressed as Superhero’s, Bicycle Unit, Citizens Police Academy Booth and Romeoville Fraternal Order of Police members.
- 5:30-6:00 greeting table and giveaways, police building tours begin and Firearms simulator available
- 6:00-6:30 p.m. “Dave DiNaso’s Traveling World of Reptiles” show.
- 6:30-6:50 p.m. Taser demonstration
- 6:50-7:30 p.m. Kids games and activities, bounce houses, free snacks, hot dogs and sno-cones. “Touch a Firetruck”.
- 7:30-8:10 p.m. K-9 Demonstration
- 8:10-8:30 p.m. Raffle prizes called and disseminated
Throughout the three-hour event, officers will be on bike patrol to hand out their “Baseball Cards."
Police will also have a live DJ for music and entertainment. There will be a rock climbing wall, inflatable bounce houses and obstacle courses for the entire event. Children can attempt to “Ride a Tricycle” while wearing DUI goggles. Tours of the police department will also be given. New this year, everyone can test their decision-making skills with the newly purchased firearms simulator.

Police will also be raffling off three bikes, along with helmets and one Ring doorbell video camera system and other amazing surprise raffle prizes. 911 will be providing free giveaways promoting the usage of calling 911 as well.
Everything at this event is free.
The National Night Out campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from 9,500 communities from all 50 states, US territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide.
National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Supporters and sponsors of the event include: Romeoville Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 15, Romeoville Citizens Police Academy, Citgo Refinery, Romeoville Recreation Department, Hampton Park Social Athletic Club (SAC) and Will County 911 Dispatch Center.
