Romeoville Up For Real Estate Publication's Municipality of The Year
The village is also up for a transaction lease award by RE Journals based on its ability to attract large developments and to create jobs.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A real estate trade magazine has once against named Romeoville a finalist for its Municipality of the Year as well as community that produces the most significant lease transaction, village officials announced on Friday.
The distinction as a finalist was determined by RE Journals, a prestigious trade magazine covering the real estate industry. The awards will be announced by the publication on July 13.
For the Municipality of the Year honor, Romeoville is boasting its ability to attract large developments, including Wayfair (500 jobs), Crate and Barrel (250 jobs), as well as filled vacant space with Scene75 (120,000 square feet) and The Best Ovation Center (127,306 square feet). In addition, village officials touted completed ground-up developments and 456 apartment units that bring approximately 1,000 new residents to the community.

In addition, village officials said that more than $500,000 in total value was added to the community through the Romeoville Reinvestment Program, which offers financial incentives to encourage home improvements as well as encourage home-based businesses to occupy permanent commercial space in our business community.
Romeoville is trying for back-to-back Most Significant Lease Transaction awards, the village said. This year, Romeoville officials submitted the $14 million, 351,000 square foot building that has been leased by Republic National Distributing Company. Built by IDI Logistics, the building has a host of energy efficient features like R-30 roof insulation, LED lighting with motion sensors, exterior lighting that is Dark-Sky compliant, and much more. RNDC, one of the largest national distributors of premium wine and spirits, decided to make it their first Chicagoland distribution facility, officials said. The facility will create 60 new jobs.

Developer Duke Realty was also named a finalist for Industrial/Manufacturing/Science and Most Significant Lease Transaction for the Wayfair project.
