Romeoville Village Manager Receives $20,000 Pay Raise: Report

Lucky and privileged to work here.

That’s how Steve Gulden reacted after the Romeoville Village Board approved a new 42-month employment contract that will allow him to retain his post as Village Manager until the middle of 2016, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

“I am just really lucky and privileged to work here,” Gulden stated in the report. “We have a great village board, mayor and staff members.”

According to the Chicago Tribune report, Gulden will receive a $20,000 raise, bringing his annual salary to $160,000. And, moving forward, he will receive a 2 percent annual increase, a $500 car allowance or use of a village supplied vehicle, a one-time $10,000 stipend and health insurance benefits.

Gulden recently was a finalist for the city manager position in Joliet.

“The opportunity presented itself and I thought I would give it a shot,” he stated in the Chicago Tribune report. “But Romeoville is my home and I belong here. I hope to be here long enough to retire someday.”
