Romeoville Winter Weather Reminders: Snow Parking, Warming Centers

In Romeoville, the Village does enforce a snow parking ordinance when 2 or more inches of snow is received.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — With the start of January, it is very possible that cold temperatures or a snowstorm will hit the Chicago area this month.

A look at the 8-14 day precipitation outlook from the NOAA shows that the Chicago area has an above average chance of precipitation through Jan. 15, and an above average chance of below normal temperatures.

Multiple weather outlets have also discussed the chance of a possible snowstorm next week, but it is too earlier for forecast details.

In Romeoville, the Village does enforce a snow parking ordinance when 2 or more inches of snow is received. Odd-even parking will go into effect; so that snow plows can get to both sides of the street.

The fine for snow-related parking violations is $50, according to the village website.

To help plow drivers, the Village advised putting garbage cans in your grass or driveway, not in the street. If possible, cars should also not be left in the street.

Residents and business are also asked to keep fire hydrants clear of ice and snow, in case of an emergency. According to the Village website, it's important to have 3 feet around the hydrant cleared.
