Romeoville's Cheer Team Advances To State Finals

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Romeoville High School will send its competitive cheer team to the IHSA state final competition on Feb. 3-4.

The high school's Athletic Boosters shared that the team placed second at sectionals, earning a berth to state final competition.

Head coach Krissy Kinder said the team had an "energetic and clean performance" at sectionals, and the routine was deduction-free. The team was also Southwest Prairie Conference Champions earlier this season.

Romeoville placed second in the co-ed division at the O'Fallon High School sectional. The top five teams at sectionals advance to the state finals.

Romeoville earned a score of 90.53, defeating third-place Highland (score of 90.05). Oswego High School took first at the sectional with a score of 92.25. Metea Valley and O'Fallon High School rounded out the top five teams in the co-ed division.

Romeoville will compete Feb. 3-4 at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.
