Sable Creek Winery to Open in Romeoville this Summer

Sable Creek Winery has received approval for a new winery on Airport Road.

Sable Creek Winery has received approval for a new winery on Airport Road. The owners will renovate the former Marquette Bank building (1876 W. Airport Road). Sable Creek Winery is a boutique winery producing artisan wines right on site. They make various wine styles from grapes purchased from premier vineyards in California, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, and New York.

The renovation will include three phases. The first phase includes the renovation of the bank building into a winery with minimal site changes. The main floor will include a tasting area, retail shop and event seating areas. Barrel, bottle, and general storage will be in the basement level along with a bottling area.

The second phase will include converting the existing bank drive-through into a covered deck and patio area to offer outdoor events and entertainment year around.

The third phase calls for a future production facility of approximately 4,200-8,400 square feet to be constructed to allow for expansion of the business.

“Having Sable Creek Winery come to Romeoville will offer new experiences for our community,” said Mayor John Noak. “Not only do we get a well-run, established business that will be unique in our village, but a vacant property is being filled and improved upon.”

Construction is anticipated to begin shortly with a targeted opening of this summer, meaning warm nights sipping wine outdoors with good company is only a few months away.
