Scouts Invited to Attend 'Native Lore' Program at Isle a la Cache

There will be an opportunity for Scouts to play games and listen to a story that incorporates Native American language during a Nov. 16 event at Isle a la Cache in Romeoville.

The following article was submitted by Bruce Hodgdon, public information officer, Forest Preserve District of Will County:

“Native Lore Day,” a free program for Scouts ages 8-12, will be Saturday, November 16, noon-3:30 p.m., at Isle a la Cache Museum, in Romeoville.  Registration is required for this Forest Preserve District of Will County program.

Scouts are invited to join us for a special program focusing on Native American heritage and lore of the Potawatomi Indians.  Discover how this tribe lived in the Illinois Country.  Visit a longhouse and learn about the daily life of the Potawatomi. Play Native American games, listen to a story that incorporates Native American language and learn how fires were made using primitive techniques.

Part of this program will take place outside and include hiking on paved and unpaved trails with some uneven terrain.  Please dress for the weather.
