ROMEOVILLE, IL — The first day of school in Valley View is Aug. 14 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you'll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. VVSD has released its 2019-2020 calendar.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

  • Aug. 12-13: Teacher institutes - no student attendance
  • Aug. 14: First day of student attendance - school improvement day - Early release

September:

  • Sept. 2: Labor Day - no school
  • Sept. 25: Early release

October:

  • Oct. 11: First grading period ends
  • Oct. 14: Columbus Day: no school
  • Oct. 23: Early release

November:

  • Nov. 8: Parent teacher conferences - no attendance
  • Nov. 11: Veterans Day - school closed
  • Nov. 20: Early release
  • Nov. 27-29: Thanksgiving break

December:

  • Dec. 11: Early release
