Village Passes 2025-26 Balanced Budget

Increased Homeowner Property Tax Relief, Enhanced Safety Measures, and Infrastructure Investments

Every year, the Village strives to create a balanced budget that reflects its dedication to financial stability, public safety enhancement, infrastructure investment, economic growth opportunities, and improving the quality of life for Romeoville residents. The budget passed by the board successfully reduces the Village’s property tax rate for the 10th year in a row while providing an increased property tax rebate for homeowners. This fiscally responsible approach reflects the Village's ongoing commitment to easing the financial burden on its residents while continuing to invest in the community's future.

The budget also allocates funding for 127 vital capital projects. Key initiatives include street resurfacing, numerous water and sewer projects, upgraded police and fire vehicles and park enhancements. Additionally, the budget highlights the Village’s ongoing commitment to deliver Lake Michigan Water to the community by 2030.

Another highlight of this year’s budget is the addition of two new police officers to the Village’s law enforcement team. This initiative underscores the Village's dedication to ensuring public safety and enhancing community well-being through outreach and proactive programming.

“Preparing the budget allows us to gain a solid perspective on the year ahead, and I am thrilled about the exciting developments on the horizon,” stated Mayor Noak. “Our strong financial standing enables us to reduce tax rates and provide homeowner refunds, all while enhancing the infrastructure, safety, and facilities vital to our community.”

It’s worth noting that only approximately 10% of a homeowner’s property tax bill goes to the Village; the remaining 90% is collected by other taxing bodies. Property taxes are determined by the assessed value of homes, as evaluated by the township assessor, with bills issued by the Will County Treasurer’s office. If you believe the assessed value of your home is inaccurate, please contact your township assessor’s office or the Will County Board of Review for assistance.
