Final Phase of Romeoville's Weber Road Expansion to Start in 2024
Will County will oversee the expansion of a third lane of traffic between 135th Street and Airport Road as well as other local improvements.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — The final phase of a Weber Road project that will expand a two-mile stretch to three lanes will take place in 2024, which village officials said will also include a number of other improvements in the area.
Work will be done between 135th Street and Airport Road and will add the third lane to match the segments of Weber Road directly to the north and south as part of the future plans, village officials recently announced.
Will County will be overseeing the work and expects construction to begin by the end of 2024, the village said. In addition to adding another lane in each direction, all signalized intersections in the project will be upgraded, a barrier median built, and pedestrian and bicycle facilities added at the request of the village officials.

“This project will complete the expansion of Weber Road,” Mayor John Noak said in a news release. “From Renwick to I-55, drivers will have three lanes in each direction as they travel through our community. We are very appreciative of Will County for agreeing to include better pedestrian access.”
The Taylor & Weber intersection will get some very noticeable improvements, village officials announced. Taylor (east of Weber) will get an additional westbound and eastbound lane and a dedicated right-turn lane, while Taylor on the west side of Weber will receive an additional lane in each direction.

The Village recently completed the Frontage Road project at Weber Road and Normantown Road. An additional $2.5 million in road improvements is planned for fiscal year 2022-23, officials said.
