Voters shot down the White Oak Library District's bid to expand services with an increased tax.
The referendum was defeated in the spring election nearly two to one.
On Election night, it was closer to three to two. Voters opposing the referendum numbered 11,848. Votes in favor came in at 17,137.

The failed proposal would have raised the taxes on a home valued at $100,000 by $10.17, according to the library district, with the average home in the district seeing an increase of $16 to $17.
With the additional money, the district had hoped to increase hours and outreach, and open a digital media lab.
