Will Co. Forest Preserve District Continues With Virtual Programs
The live programs will be available on the Will County Forest Preserve District's Facebook page.
ROMEOVILLE, IL — The Forest Preserve District of Will County has hosted various virtual programs to help with quarantine-induced boredom since the beginning of the Illinois stay-at-home order.
In a news release Wednesday, the district announced some more nature education and education to look forward to. The live programs will air on the District’s Facebook page.
Nesting season at Lake Renwick, 12 p.m. Thursday, May 28
See and learn about all the wonderful birds that call Lake Renwick Heron Rookery Nature Preserve home while the site is closed for nesting season. Expect to see great egrets, double-crested cormorants, great blue herons, and possibly some black-crowned night herons and bald eagles will drop in as well. Longtime volunteer Joel Craig will be on hand to chime in with all sorts of interesting information and answer questions as they roll in via Facebook comments.

Pond Safari, 12 P.M. Friday, June 5
All kinds of the wonderful creatures, big and small, live in local waterways. Join interpretive naturalist Suzy Lyttle as she explores a preserve pond teeming with wildlife during this virtual program. She will not only be looking and listing for activity, but also dropping some nets in the water to see what she can find. Lyttle also will answer questions in real time.
Hooray for Herpetology, 12 P.M. Wednesday, June 17
Herpetology is the study of amphibians and reptiles. Join interpretive naturalist Suzy Lyttle to learn what these species have in common and what makes them very different. Plus, you'll get to meet Plum Creek Nature Center’s resident reptiles who are excited to show off what makes them the best educators for their species.
