Sara Boo Creek has Been Growing Strong for 12 years

Cindy Crawford knows what it was that kept her business going despite the economic downturn of the recent years.
"We have got the most loyal customers," Crawford said. "We have a shoppers' club going.
"There are customers that have been here since the beginning."
Crawford, who lives in Plainfield, opened the store on Plainfield Road in Crest Hill 12 years ago, after falling in love with the building.
"When we bought the property, we did it because it was adorable and I needed a place to work out of the house," she said.Crawford has not always been an entrepreneur. She began teaching at College of DuPage. But then she began doing craft shows 19 years ago to make extra money.
"When we opened the store, I had to decide one or the other," she said. "I like the whole entrepreneurial thing."
Her craft show experience helped her when she opened the 575 square foot store in Naperville in 2007.
"I'm used to taking a small space and really maximizing it," Crawford said.
The store is probably best known for its wood-based decorative pieces that are made and assembled in store. Each piece is custom-ordered.
